This pattern is for a Nordic Style shirt and knickers. The loosely fitted SHIRT gathers into a stand-up collar with a neck opening in the front seam. Full sleeves have small pleats at the dropped shoulder and are gathered into cuffs that may be buttoned or snapped. The difficult to sew gussets found in the original Nordic shirt have been eliminated by the cut of the shoulder and sleeve. The shoulder yoke can be left plain, embroidered by hand as in the original or used as a guide for white-on-white purchased braid or heavy lace. Collar and cuffs should be handled in the same manner.

The top-stitched KNICKERS have two pockets, a front flap opening with a three-button closing, and a wide waistband which buttons to the flap at the center front. Leg openings have three-button side closings, leg bands fastened with buckles and optional buckle tabs.

A vest is nearly always worn to complete the costume. Old Country Costume Nordic vest is sold separately with several styles adaptable from one basic pattern.
