This pattern may be made in either the Natural "open" Style with the legs and tail of the hide attached (pictured on the front cover) or a more Tailored Style shown in other image at the top. The length may be varied to suit preference, Tribal influence or the size of available hides and an option for a neck flap is also given.
The Indian War Shirt was worn either plain or decorated; honors and coups were often seen on the shirt. Paint, feathers, ermine tails, beadwork, quillwork, shells, bells, coins, fur and/or trade cloth are some of the items used to decorate the shirt.
Included with this pattern is a section on "Working with Leather," a glossary of terms and intermediate sizes are easily made.
