Lynn McMasters sewing pattern number 45
1870s - 1880s Bustle Hat
Pattern condition: Uncut, factory folded and complete with instructions
~ Item for sale is a sewing pattern, not finished hats ~
Instructions are included for making these hats with either a wired buckram base, or with straw plait (braid). Either foundation will work for any view.
View A: This hat is very simple with only two pieces, but what makes it look period is just where and how the decorative elements are placed.
View B: This hat is basically the same as A, except it has a crown. The decorations are also in all the same areas as View A, except it has some decorations below the level of the crown, in the front half of the hat.
View C: This hat is a miniaturized version of a Georgian Tall hat. Most of the surface has decoration covering it, half in some type of wired ribbon loops.
View D: This hat has a shorter crown and a larger brim that follows the shape of the head and forehead. It can be lined on the under brim, or just have bias edging tht matches the hatband.
